Edward Maxwell was born and brought up in Birmingham. He read music at Sussex University, receiving trumpet lessons at the Guildhall School of Music, and went on to study at the Royal College of Music. Edward is a member of the brass quintet Mardi Brass, which has toured Britain and appeared on national television and radio. He has appeared as a soloist with the Camerata of London, Surrey ProMusica and the Sinfonia de Chiesa and has played in numerous shows, including a pantomime and a tour of The Music Man.
Edward regularly plays the natural trumpet in period costume at Hampton Court Palace; other natural trumpet work has included appearances with The Brook Street Band and The 18th Century Concert Orchestra. Performances in the field of contemporary music have included recordings and broadcasts with The New Music Players and Ixion. Edward teaches trumpet at Roehampton University and several schools. He lives in Surrey with wife Sian and children, Ben, Oliver and Elin; no.4 is due in 2006.
