"First Song" puts the trombone in the spotlight of music. The concept for this CD came about as a result of many reaction for my first CD, "Nana". "First Song" consists of more common solo pieces for bass trombone. Together these two CDs create a wonderful balance of today and traditional music. To play the pieces of "First Song" gave me the opportunity to make traditional repertoite fresh again and put new light on what we have learned in the last one hundred years. Of course my interpretations are personal and based on many years of experience; as soloist, orchestral player, member of audition committees and as teacher. Considering the educational values; "First SOng" can be of benefit in guidance for upcoming auditions.
My pleasure is to add a beautiful CD of the bass trombone repertoire with the spirit of a new born song. (Ben van Dijk)
