Spectrum for Trumpet is a unique and fun book about what colours may actually sound like. Whilst this may seem like a far out concept, there is actually a medical condition whereby people who have this condition can actually hear what colours sound like! Every time they see a colour they hear a particular note or chord.
With this idea in mind, I composed a series of pieces about colours and what these may sound like. I have tried this book with students (covering up the title of each piece) and they have correctly guessed what colour the piece is depicting! Not only is this an interesting concept but the pieces themselves provide the trumpet player with melodic and enjoyable repertoire.
