Dawns y Crwban (Tortoise Dance) is one of a series of three compositions written for pBuzz ensemble & Big Band.
The pBuzz part is designed to be learned towards the end of a series of pBuzz lessons and can be performed by any number of players. It is aimed at pupils aged 7+ and can be learned to be played with or without the sheet music.
A playalong is included to aid rehearsal and for performances when a full big band is not available. All the solos on these playalongs are played on trombone. On the band parts the solos are shared between many different instruments in the band.
The big band parts are written to be playable for any reasonable standard High School / County ensemble. The 1st trumpet part goes up to an A.
pBuzz cues are included where appropriate to enable the piece to be played with or without the pBuzz ensemble. If there are no pBuzz players then the band should start in bar 5.
Dawns y Crwban was commissioned jointly by Cardiff and Vale Music Education and Warwick Music.
