Music for Junior Brass & Music for Junior Wind Band

The arrangements and compositions in these books were written by Adrian Taylor for various beginner or school bands that he has conducted over the years. Children joined these bands on the 2^nd parts, usually having only been playing for a year and they then progressed to the 1^st parts the following year.

Whilst the score is written using key signatures, the 2^nd parts for each instrument have been published without key signatures in treble clef, in B flat major for bass clef trombone, euphonium and bassoon and in E flat major for bass clef tuba. 1^st parts remain with the appropriate key signatures for each piece, reflecting the greater musical understanding of the players playing from these parts.

Most of the pieces can be played with only a few parts being covered, the addition of the other parts usually enhancing the arrangement rather than simply doubling existing musical lines. The essential parts for Volume 8 are the two Trumpet (and Clarinet or Cornet) parts, the 1^st Horn (French or Tenor) part, the two Trombone/Euphonium/Bassoon parts and the 1^st Tuba/Eb Bass part. The optional piano part helps to fill out the harmonies when other parts are missing. French horn parts are identical to tenor horn parts, as are the Eb Bass and Tuba parts, and the brass parts in the junior wind band versions are essentially the same as those in the junior brass versions.
