This trio was composed for performance at a Royal College of Music chamber concert
in the summer term of 1975. Trio ’75 reflects my interest at the time in the output of
Les Six (particularly Milhaud and Poulenc) and Alan Rawsthorne (1905-71), all of
whom were influenced to some extent by neoclassicism.
